The Hillsboro Historical Society

We collect, preserve and interpret the history of the Hillsboro, Kingston and Lake Valley areas of southern New Mexico, to promote understanding of our local heritage.

Our Exciting New Project!

Home for a Coach

The Hillsboro Historical Society has now initiated construction of a Coach House behind our Black Range Museum in Hillsboro, New Mexico. Many steps remain in the acquisition process for the Mountain Pride Stagecoach, but we are underway on a new building!

With the roof and windows in place, T&G pine ceiling, sheetrock, and the first stucco coat, the final attractive look and function of the Coach House becomes apparent.  The design allows visitors to enter the interior if accompanied by a Docent; however, the coach can also be viewed through the north-facing windows.

The door on the far right is to a much-needed climate-controlled storage area for collections.

There is something for any time you have and your skills. We also consider interested people each year who can give time to our active Board of Directors.

If you are interested, click below to visit our Volunteer page.

The Hillsboro Historical Society Board of Directors meets the first Saturday of every month.  We meet at the Hillsboro Community Center Library Reading Room at 9:00 a.m.
