The Coach House
now shelters
the Mountain Pride Stagecoach!

In Fall 2025 the Mountain Pride Stagecoach was returned by the Museum of New Mexico from the Lincoln County Courthouse, where it had been stored in exile from its home in Sierra County for many years. It ran the Lake Valley, Hillsboro, Kingston line from 1889 up until 1915.  The Coach Display can now be seen at the Black Range Museum Coach House.

Photograph is the Mountain Pride stagecoach when it still rolled between Lake Valley and Hillsboro New Mexico.  Note that it possibly also went to Kingston, but the route was rough and there are no photos of it there.

Here it is stopped in front of the Keller – Miller store in Hillsboro with the driver, the shotgun, and travelers aboard.  This coach was always pulled by a team of four horses or mules.

And ... our new Courtyard space connecting the Museum building and the Coach House is finally done - except for some finishing touches!

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization and we always need new volunteers!   You may choose working in the Museum or helping on one of various committees. There is something for any time you have and your skills. We also consider interested people each year who can give time to our active Board of Directors.

The Hillsboro Historical Society Board of Directors meets the first Saturday of every month.  We meet in the Black Range Museum Research Room at 9:00 a.m.
