Field Guides – With Spring in the air the wildflowers and wildlife are once more front and center. The BRM bookshelf offers a wide selection of pocket field guides to help you become acquainted with local species that share our space.
Guajolotes, Zopilotes, y Paisanos – Hillsboro Historical Society. This is a compilation of 40 articles from the first 10 years of the Hillsboro Historical Society newsletter/journal. Histories of people and events from Kingston, Hillsboro, and Lake Valley area and the southern Black Range are presented.
Lazy B: Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest– Sandra Day O’Conner. A memoir by the first woman nominated or confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Born in El Paso in 1930 and growing up on a cattle ranch near the southern Arizona New Mexico border formed the basis of Sandra Day O’Connor’s character and principles that lead her to become one of the most highly respected justices of the Supreme Court.
Women of the Apache Nation – H. Henritta Stockel – Based on interviews with Chiricahua Apache women this book chronicles and celebrates their critical role as central guardians of the culture. Beginner’s Guide to Planting Native Perennials of the Gila Region – This illustrated guide by the Gila Native Plant Society is a great reference for anyone trying to start or maintain a native wildflower garden in our area.
