The Hillsboro Historical Society owns the Black Range Museum and the old Sierra County Courthouse and Jail Site. We have been able to make remarkable improvements, especially at the Black Range Museum site. In 2024 we began constructing a Coach House behind the Museum in an effort to bring back the Mountain Pride Stagecoach to Sierra County.  Photos of this building can be found on the Home page of this website.

Membership helps us “keep the lights on” by supporting our all-volunteer run organization. Maintenance of HHS sites plus other significant accomplishments are funded exclusively from individual donations, gift shop sales, and membership dues – as well as countless hours of volunteer labor.  

We also produce an exceptional quarterly Journal —Guajolotes, Zopilotes y Paisanos, distributed online and starting in 2025 it will be posted on this website.
